Carlos H. Lowenberg Jr., ChFC®

Founder & CEO

Carlos Lowenberg is a tax and financial strategist and author of the upcoming Wealth on Purpose® book series. Clients and others rely on Carlos and seek out his advice regarding tax reduction strategies, transitioning or selling their businesses and creation of foundations and charities.

Mr. Lowenberg is the founder of the Lowenberg Group, LLC. The Lowenberg Group, LLC specializes in building and protecting wealth for business owners and entrepreneurs and their families through key executive retention plans and executive benefits and consulting around exit strategy.

Throughout his career, Carlos has gained extensive knowledge, insight and experience. He has appeared on CNBC and Fox News and has been interviewed for Business Week. His articles have been published in the Wall Street Journal, Investment News, the Austin Business Journal, the Austin American Statesman, MSN Money, SmartMoney and on Forbes.com and MarketWatch.com.

Carlos is a member of Top of the Table — an elite group of financial advisors comprising only the top .002% of financial advisors in the world. He is past president of New York Life Chairman’s counsel and is past member of the Advisory Board for New York Life. He is a founding member of several philanthropic organizations, including the Austin Chapter of the National Christian Foundation, Community New Start and City School in Austin, Texas, where he has served as its chairman for eight years. He is also past Vice President of Finance for the Austin Opera.

Scott Kice


Scott Kice joined the Lowenberg Group, LLC in 2014. In his current role as COO, Scott’s primary objective is to preserve and maximize wealth for the Lowenberg Group, LLC’s investment clients. Scott’s strategic thinking, analytical mind, discipline, and attention to detail are utilized daily in this endeavor.

Additionally, Mr. Kice assists Mr. Lowenberg in several other business areas. For our individual clients, Scott assists in consulting on charitable giving, estate planning, and leveraged life insurance. Scott assists our corporate clients with design and implementation for employee compensation and executive retention plans, as well as advising on qualified and non-qualified retirement plans.

Scott grew up in Wichita, KS but has called Austin home for over ten years. Scott first entered the securities industry in 2004 but also has experience computer programming, actively trading equities, founding and running small businesses, establishing orphan care facilities throughout East Africa, and pursuing cybercrimes cases as a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Scott’s diverse experience, as well as his managerial, and organizational skills, are brought to bear in his role as Chief Operating Officer.

Outside the office, Scott enjoys rock climbing, stand-up paddle boarding, wakesurfing, and riding his motorcycle.

Julie Rompel, FPQP, CAP-OM

Vice President of Operations and Chief Compliance Officer

As Vice President of Operations and Chief Compliance Officer, Julie utilizes her over thirty years of administrative and management experience, many of which have been in the wealth management industry, to provide concierge-level services to our clients and our team.

Julie is a Financial Paraplanner Qualified Professional (FPQP™), a Certified Administrative Professional (CAP™), a Certified Organizational Manager (OM™), Licensed Texas Life Agent and a Texas Notary. Her astute attention to detail, organizational skills and interpersonal skills are paramount as she manages the daily operations of the company including Compliance, Marketing and Communications, Human Resources, IT, Accounting, Facilities, Special Projects and Client Services.

Originally hailing from the San Francisco Bay area, she has called Texas home for over 30 years.

Julie’s other passions include spending time with her husband and children, interior design, gardening, gourmet cooking, reading and hiking in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

Jeremy David

Financial Planning Associate

Jeremy David joined Lowenberg Group in 2018 as a Financial Planning Associate.   Prior to that he founded JLD Wealth Management, which focused on providing financial planning advice to business owners and professionals.

Mr. David is the creator of the Wealth By Design™ planning process  to provide consistent and actionable financial plans.   His background in education provides valuable experience in helping clients understand financial decisions.

Jeremy is a licensed insurance agent, licensed as an Investment Advisor Representative and has been a qualifying member of the MDRT and is a member of NAIFA, FSI, and FPA.

He also serves on the Board of Directors for Drive A Senior, which provides transportation services to senior citizens.   He lives in Austin with his two sons, Rhett and Greyson.  Jeremy enjoys volunteering in their school, and they also spend time fishing, camping and geocaching.

Ellis Taylor

Private Business Advisor

As a Private Business Advisor, Ellis Taylor works closely with business owners and entrepreneurs to help protect and responsibly grow their businesses in alignment with the owner’s goals. He combines efficient tax strategies and an adaptable financial plan to increase the business’s value and cash flow. Ellis has been sought out by many private businesses to help them generate value and prepare for company transitions.

Ellis attended Texas A&M University. Shortly after his Senior year, he enlisted in the Army. He was chosen to join the 1st Ranger Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment. After several deployments and starting a family, he moved back to Texas where he became a Test Pilot in UH-60 Blackhawks. His transition to the financial world came from discovering he had a unique ability in helping his soldiers with their financial situations.

After several years with a large institution, Ellis moved his expertise to the Lowenberg Group, LLC, as he appreciates the personal attention our firm provides. His passion to work with private businesses has lead Ellis and his wife to start their own private company. Mr. Taylor enjoys supporting several philanthropic organizations and is a member of the SAFE Alliance business development council.

Ellis lives in Buda, Texas with his wife Jennifer and their three very active children, Ellis, Chase, and Peyton. His weekends are spent outdoors with his family, either on the coast fly fishing, chasing whitetails in the hill country, or cheering on his kids from the stands.

Patricia Perez O’Leary, MBA

Associate – Investments 

Patricia joined Lowenberg Group, LLC in 2016. She is Series 7 licensed by FINRA. She has an Industrial Engineering and Systems degree from Monterrey Tech and a Master degree in Business Administration with concentration in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.

Patricia has been featured in Hispanic Business Magazine as one of 80 Elite Hispanic Women in the U.S. She brings to Lowenberg Group LLC her strong analytical skills and many years of banking experience. Patricia is married and has two daughters. Austin has been her home for over 20 years. A very active family – she, her husband and their daughters spend most of their afternoons and weekends at sporting events.  She recently became a certified soccer referee, managed one of Lake Travis Youth Association’s Select soccer teams, and served the Austin Women Tennis Association as their webmaster.

Patti Womack-Lee

Assistant to Carlos H. Lowenberg, Jr./Client Relations

Patti comes to the Lowenberg Group, LLC with a strong background in sales, customer service and marketing. She loves interacting with our clients and providing superior customer service. When not in the office, Patti loves to spend time with her family, trail running, travelling the world and volunteering with charities, such as Mobile Loaves and Fishes. Patti is passionate about helping those in need and is also involved with charities in El Salvador, India and Rwanda.
